Observatory. The Observatory enables you to get multiple planets (colonies). The higher level the observatory is, the more planets (colonies) you can obtain.

Mine
 
Mine. It is found under the Resources tab under Shop. The Minerals Harvested from the Mine Can Be Used To Speed Up Buildings. Minerals harvested from the mine are also used to upgrade units in the factory and unlock units inside the Training Camp, Factory and Starport. Certain building upgrades such as turrets also require minerals to upgrade. Silos are used to upgrade maximum mineral storage.
